Is Artificial Intelligence (AI) changing the fabric of society? How will it impact our lives, and what can we do to steer its development?
In 2018 we released the first edition of A People's Guide to AI, a compact and self-published zine that used a popular education framework to provide clear and accessible explanations of what AI really is.
Since then, AI has continued to evolve, and our mission at APGT has evolved too. Our updated guide meets the current moment by offering two approaches: an overview of how the latest predictive and generative AI systems work, alongside brand new explanations of why AI matters, what the tool has been mobilized for, and where the current wave might lead.
Our mission is to provide the foundation needed for more people to gain agency in creating a world where AI tools are used to bring joy, justice, and fullness to more of us. This world isn't one that we can bring about on our own, but the more of us who try, the better our chances will be.
