Freedom by James Thomas

Freedom is the first collection of poetry and letters by incarcerated poet and activist James Thomas. Thomas, a juvenile lifer sentenced to mandatory life without the possibility of parole at 15 years old – a decision that is now unconstitutional – is an original member and organizer of the Writer's Block, an ongoing writing and visual art workshop in a prison outside of Detroit. His work has appeared on Michigan Radio, The New Yorker, The Michigan Citizen, and numerous collections of poetry.
